How do sessions run, and what if I miss one?

Here's how Futureative summits are scheduled, the different session formats we use, and what your options are if you miss something.

How sessions are scheduled

All summit sessions run on a set schedule across the summit week, in time slots we publish in advance. You can browse the full schedule on the summit platform and add the sessions you want to attend to your personal schedule.

The different session formats

Not every session works the same way. There are a few formats you might come across:

  • Pre-recorded sessions. Most of our sessions are pre-recorded and go live at scheduled times. You don't need to attend the moment they release; you can watch any time within your access window.
  • Live sessions with a replay. Some sessions are run live. Where a replay is appropriate, we'll make it available afterwards through your standard access window.
  • Live-only sessions. A small number of sessions may run live only, with no replay. If that's the case for a particular session, it will be flagged on the summit website so you know to attend in real time.

If you're not sure how a particular session is being run, check its session page on the summit platform. The format will be indicated there.

If you're on a Free Pass

Free Pass access runs for 48 hours from when a session goes live. Once that window closes, the session is no longer available on the Free Pass.

To get access back, you can upgrade to a Premium Pass at any time. That restores access to the sessions you missed along with everything else in the summit.

If you're on a Premium Pass

Premium Pass access runs for the licence term stated on the summit page. Within that term, you can watch sessions on demand, as many times as you like.

What licence term means

When you purchase a Premium Pass, you receive a licence to access the summit content for a defined period. The exact term is stated on the registration page for the summit you're attending; we typically aim for a minimum of six months from the summit close, but the figure on the summit page is the one that applies to your pass.

The licence term guarantees you exclusive access to the sessions and resources on the summit website for that period. It's the window where you can rely on everything being there, in one place, just for ticket holders.

In practice, we often keep access open beyond the licence term. We also keep open the option to start publishing or sharing some of the content on other platforms after the exclusive window closes. At some point we may need to archive the summit website, but we will keep it open for as long as we reasonably can.

A note on access windows

We can't extend individual access windows on request. The 48-hour Free Pass window and the Premium Pass licence term apply consistently for all attendees, so we're not able to make exceptions for missed sessions. The upgrade path is there if you need more flexibility.

In exceptional circumstances

In rare situations beyond our control (significant technical failures, platform outages, force majeure events, and similar), access may be temporarily affected or service may need to be paused. Where that happens, we'll communicate directly with attendees about what's affected and how we're handling it. Our full rights and responsibilities in these situations are set out in our terms and conditions.

Staying on top of the schedule

A few ways to make sure you catch what matters:

  • Add key sessions to your personal schedule on the platform
  • Block the times in your own calendar, especially if you're attending across time zones
  • Look out for any live-only sessions and prioritise those in real time
  • If your schedule is unpredictable, a Premium Pass takes the time pressure off entirely

Upgrading

You can upgrade from Free to Premium at any point during the summit, or after it ends. If you decide later that you want the flexibility of replay access, the upgrade path stays open.
